About Playcentre
Playcentres are parent-led early childhood services where families work alongside trained educators to support children’s learning through play, offering a warm, community-driven environment. These centres cater to parents who want to be actively involved in their child’s early education, enjoying a supportive, cooperative model that values whānau participation and mixed-age play.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Rangiora Playcentre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“I loved our time at Rangiroa Playcentre. A beautiful community and space for tamariki to create, learn and make friendships with thier peers and adults.”
“A brilliant friendly place. A great chance for little ones to engage in learning experiences”
“Great early childhood organisation. Very hands on, child led learning, you get to stay and play with your child and be involved in all that messy play that you might not want to have in your home. Great way to meet new lifelong friends for the children and adults. Once they are 2.5, you can do a drop off session as well to give you some time to yourself if wanted.”
“Love rangiora playcentre! I used to go here as a child and now take my children. So special to have an environment where children can be themselves and let their imagination and knowledge grow during their free play.”
“Best playcentre in Rangiora. Great play areas. Lovely space. Well run and a great facility for parties...very cheap!”
