What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Arapeta, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Te Kohanga reo o te arapeta are so professional and this is where I bring my grandson. All the Kaimahi( Staff) are so amazing. The quality of the health and safety is at such a high level. All the rooms are so clean and tidy. During the covid-19 the staff maintain a high standard of making sure that tamariki are in a good welcoming and professional environment. So awesome to see all the activities that tamariki are learning and thru the lockdown level 3, Te Kohanga reo o te arapeta we’re still able to have learning time via Zoom. Thankyou to all the amazing staff, for what you do teaching my little grandson. 🌈”
